The FSPCA recently changed the name of the shelter facilities to the Animal Adoption Centre as sheltering is only one thing that the organization does. Prior to adoption, we take part in enrichment and behaviour modification programs with those animals that need it.
The FSPCA employs around 10 full-time and 10 part-time staff members to keep the Adoption Centre operating every day of the week. Many of the employees have worked at the FSPCA for a number of years.
The FSPCA is open to the public between 11am and 4pm every day of the week (excluding major holidays). Services include adoptions, stray animal inquiries, pet care resources and more.
The FSPCA conducts daily tasks and chores, including dish washing, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and several loads of laundry.
The FSPCA staff and volunteers spend time with the animals outside where dogs can swim and run while cats explore in an enclosed space.
The Fredericton SPCA conducts hundreds of successful adoptions every year. Many adopters stay in touch and?share updates on an on-going basis.
There is a great deal of work done by employees at the FSPCA to ensure that the animals are prepared to be adopted. This include behaviour modification training, socialization, and more.
Every Adoption at the FSPCA includes: vaccines, ?microchip, dewormer, ?flea treatment, spay/neuter, A physical examination and a dental assessment
The FSPCA does interviews with all potential adopters to ensure that animals are matched with adopter personalities and lifestyles.
?In-home support, nutrition counseling, numerous resources are also available.
Public education, especially for children, is on the top of the priority list for the FSPCA. Activities such as reading to the animals have been found to be of benefit for the children and also for the furry friend who is listening in.
The FSPCA offers a birthday party service on Saturdays and Sundays for children 6 and over. Parties include a behind-the-scenes tour and interaction time with animals. It also hosts dozens of tours for groups of children and youth throughout the year so the public can learn the daily activities that take place at the FSPCA.
Every summer, the FSPCA hosts a Summer Animal camp for kids where children learn about animals though interactive games, stories, videos and presentations by animal-related organizations in the community
The FSPCA offers presentations for children between 6 and 13 years that include interactive activities around pet care and bite prevention.
The FSPCA hosts microchip clinics a couple times each year so the public can have their pets chipped by a veterinarian at low-cost.
The FSPCA hosts a Pet Expo every year for animal-related organizations and vendors in the community can showcase their products and services while educating the public on pet care.
The FSCPA has volunteers who help raise money and perform other tasks during events and fundraisers. The organization is always looking for more volunteers to help with these types of events.
The FSPCA hosts fun events to bring your pets, include photo shoots at Easter and Christmas time.
The FSPCA accepts donations from children in the community throughout the year. Many of these young individuals come up with creative ways to raise money and donations for the animals.
The FSPCA received donations from hundreds of people every year. Without donors such as these, the FSPCA would not be able to operate. Therefore, every donations, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated.
Losing a pet is heart wrenching, so if it is your pet or a friend or family member, you can honour them with a donation to the FSPCA. The pet’s name will be mentioned in the quarterly newsletter to let them know they are not forgotten.

The FSPCA partners with all vets in the community in providing veterinary services to the animals in need. Services include spay/neuters and other surgeries, examinations, vaccinations and more. We also have partnerships with Fredericton radio station and local businesses.
